NotesSturmgeschütz Ausf C had a couple of minor changes with the direct gun sight changed to a periscope type and new idlers. The Ausf D had internal modifications. The Ausf C and D mainly saw service in Russia except in 1942 when three Ausf Ds were shipped to North Africa and saw action with Sonderverband 288.
