Redesignated 9 April 1942 as the 8 Motorized Division.
Reorganized and redesignated 15 May 1943 as the 8th Infantry Division.
Inactivated 20 November 1945 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Activated 17 August 1950 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
