Royal Greek Army

The Greek army mobilised in late 1940 just prior to the Italian invasion and consisted of 430.000 men in six infantry divisions, nine mountain divisions, four mountain brigades and one cavalry division. The Italians soon found out that the Greek army was a tough nut to crack and were not only stopped but defeated and pushed back to their start lines, this was a humiliating defeat to the Italians and Mussolini and forced a German intervention.
