Inactivated 13 February 1919 at Camp Sheridan, Alabama.
Activated 1 August 1940 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Reorganized and redesignated 1 August 1942 as the 9th Infantry Division.
Inactivated 15 January 1947 in Germany.
Activated 15 July 1947 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
