Organized 25 August 1917 at Camp Travis, Texas.
Inactivated 17 June 1919 at Camp Bowie, Texas.
Activated in October 1921 with headquarters at San Antonio, Texas.
Ordered into active military service 25 March 1942 and reorganized at Camp Barkeley, Texas.
Redesignated 1 August 1942 as the 90th Infantry Division.
Reorganized and redesignated 15 September 1942 as the 90th Motorized Division.
Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1943 as the 90th Infantry Division.
Inactivated 27 December 1945 at Camp Shanks, New York.
Activated 4 August 1947 with headquarters at Dallas, Texas.
