LINEAGE

Constituted 23 July 1918 as the 100th Division.
Organized in October 1918 at Camp Bowie, Texas.
Inactivated 30 November 1918 at Camp Bowie, Texas.
Activated 27 September 1921 with headquth November 1942 and reorganized at Fort Jackson, South Carolina as the 100th Infantry Division.
Inactivated 16 January 1946 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia.
Redesignated 15 October 1946 as the 100th Airborne Division.
Activated 23 October 1946 with headquarters at Louisville, Kentucky.
