Notes | The Springfield 03 was adopted by the US Military in 1903. It replaced the previous models such as the Krag, Mauser and Remington. it was an accurate and reliable weapon and filled the role main service rifle until the introduction of the Garand in 1936, the swap over was slow with some units not receiving their new Garand’s, which resulted in some units going into action still armed primarily with the M03. After then it was given the role of Sniper Rifle, being issued at one per Squad. After the Korean war it still in use as a drill rifle. |
