Notes | General Motors adapted their ACKWX truck into the CCKW and this was accepted by the US army. The term CCKW stood for C (1941) C (conventional cab) K (all-wheel drive) W (duel rear axles). Known as the famous “Deuce and a Half” it came in two wheel bases the 352 (1.45m) which was used as a prime mover and the longer 353 (164m) was used as a general purpose truck. As a prime mover it could tow the 75mm guns and 105mm howitzers. The CCKW transported weapons, troops and stores for the US Military right through World War Two and the Korean War. |
