Notes | The M5 was used as an artillery tractor in much the same way as the lines M4 HST. It was built by International Harvester using the M3 light tank chassis. It could carry a 10 man gun crew along with a driver and ammunition. The crew compartment was covered by a canvas sheet with the driver’s seat placed centrally at the front. It had a .50 Machine Gun for local defense. The M5 was used to tow the M2A1 105mm and M1 155mm Howitzers.
