Notes | The Vickers K series were first issued to the RAF as an aircraft defence gun. A variant was developed for land use and mainly served in airfield defence units. Some were adopted by reconnaissance units and Commando teams. Many also found use with the SAS and mounted on either trucks or jeeps and these could be single or mounted in pairs. The K was a good fast firing gun but one of the draw backs was its high rate of fire as ammunition ran out fairly quickly especially when in action. |
