Notes | The Panzer Mk. III Ausf J was a major improvement on existing Mk. IIIs. It had up to 50mm armour and mounted the 50mm KwK 38 gun. Some also had additional 20mm spaced armour bolted to the gun mantlet and hull front. Other improvements included new hatches and air intakes. Later models were the first to mount the improved 50mm KwK 39 gun which gave them the edge against the British, who gave it the name Mk. III special. |
