NotesSturmgeschütz Ausf E was the last of the StuG IIIs to be fitted with the low velocity 75mm gun and first to be equipped with a MG34 for local defense. The machine gun had no mount and was stowed inside the vehicle. Other modifications included armoured boxes to house communication equipment plus provision for extra ammunition. The Ausf E mainly served on the eastern front.
