NotesThe sIG33 Ausf B was Germany’s first attempt to mount the sIG33 infantry gun on an AFV carriage. The sIG33 infantry gun was notoriously heavy and this conversion was to provide mobile infantry with a gun what could keep up with the forward elements. The platform was a Panzer I Ausf B with the turret and upper half of the superstructure were removed and an armoured box was provided to shield the gun crew from small arms fire. The howitzer was fitted wheels and all to the vehicle. Because of the small size of the armoured box, no provision was made to carry ammunition and the weight caused many breakdowns. Never the less the vehicle saw action during the Blitzkrieg attacks through France, Belgium and Holland and later in the Balkan and Russia.
