NotesThe Hummel (Bumblebee) was a self-propelled medium howitzer mounted on a platform which incorporated the chassis and engine used on both the Panzer Mk. III and Mk. IV tanks. The chassis was lengthened and the engine moved forward into the center. The weapon was the 150mm sFH18/1 which was the standard howitzer found in heavy field batteries. The fighting compartment was opened topped with armored side plates forming a cab which gave the vehicle a high silhouette. It served along with the light Wesp, in armoured artillery batteries located in panzer divisions, panzer grenadier divisions and independent heavy batteries. It served on the eastern front, France and Italy.
