NotesIn 1943 the German army requested a vehicle which was heavy enough to tow the Tiger I and Panther. Because the Panther was available, it was chosen for the job. The turret was removed and heavy lifting gear installed. The chassis from D, A and G were used and early models had a 20mm FlaK 38 added to the hull front. The Bergepanther was issued to heavy workshop and recovery companies and served until the end of the war.
