Notes | The PaK 36(r) was developed from stocks of captured Soviet M1936 field guns. It was done in a response to combat the Russian T-34. The Germans were rushing through production of the new PaK 40 anti-tank gun and in the mean time they were looking for a stop gap weapon. They had plenty of captured Soviet ordnance and chose the M1936. Modifications included the lowering of the gun shield and added muzzle break. The gun itself was not as good as the PaK 40 but could knock out any allied tank in existence. They saw action in Russia and North Africa with some still in use in 1945. |
