NotesThe type 38 rifle was first introduced in 1905 and was an up-dated version of the type 30. It was built by the Japanese firm Arisaka and fired a 6.5mm round. It was long for a rifle and stood as tall as a soldiers who used it with its bayonet attached and together with the type 99 was the standard infantry rifles issued to the IJA.
