Notes | The type 96 was designed to replace the type 11. The type 96 was really just an improved version with the main improvement being the curved 30 round box magazine. Other improvements was the ability to quickly barrel change and folding bi-pod. The sights were also different and even had the option of a telescopic sight plus a bayonet. But the same problems arose concerning the oiling of the rounds prior to entering the chamber and rounds had to be greased before loading into the magazine. It never replaced the type 11 and both weapons were still in use in 1945. |
