Notes | The type 92 was the standard Japanese heavy machine used in World War Two. It was similar to the type 03 but chambered to fire the improved 7.7mm rimmed or semi-rimmed round. It was also strip fed, but dispensed with the integral oiler as rounds were oiled during manufacture, but this also caused problems resulting in frequent jams in the field. It was issued to machine gun companies at battalion level. It was carried in a similar way to the type 30, buy use of poles and saw extensive use on all fronts. |
