NotesIt was found that the R-35 was too weak as a gun tank and after the losses suffered at Stalingrad it was proposed to re-arm a number of these vehicles with a more potent gun. The weapon chosen was a Soviet model 45mm tank gun which was taken off captured BT-7 tanks. Because of the size of the gun and its ammunition, the coaxial machine was omitted. These vehicles were issued to the 2nd tank regiment and none came through the battles that were fought late in the war.
