Notes | The BA-10 was a heavy armoured car which combined fire power and armoured protection. It mounted a 45mm main gun which was housed in a fully revolving turret. It was protected with up to 15mm of frontal armour and also carried two machine guns. It carried a pair of tracks which could be fitted to both sets of wheels to allow for travelling through mud and snow. In 1938 a modified version was issued and this had minor modifications which included a better radio and reserve fuel tanks, this vehicle was called BA-10M. The BA-10 first saw action during the Spanish civil war and later against the Japanese and Finns. It served right through world war two as the standard Soviet heavy armoured car. |
