Belgian Infantry Weapons

Belgian line officers were equipped with GP-35 pistols which were designed by Browning and built by FN. Company commanders were sometimes equipped with Bergmann sub-machine guns. The infantry were issued with FN built Mausers rifles and carbines. Active divisions were equipped with licenced built Browning Automatic Rifles which were modified by FN as a squad light machine gun, and Maxim machine guns were issued to machine gun companies. Reserve units were issued with Chauchat light machine guns and Colt heavy machine guns. Machine gun companies in cavalry and Chasseurs Ardennais divisions were issued with Hotchkiss machine guns. Infantry companies had a grenade launcher section equipped with light 50mm DBT mortars.
