Notes | The mle 1889 was the main Belgian Infantry rifle from 1892 to the end of the First World War, it was a standard Mauser design and built under licence. Many were still in service in 1940. In 1935 the military decided to modernise the 1889, this resulted in the mle 1889/36 but with only 100,000 being built it never fully replaced the original. |
