French Support Weapons
French infantry support weapons were all issued at company and battalion level. Company headquarters were equipped with a single 60mm mortar and infantry battalions were equipped with a support company containing machine gun platoons and 81mm mortar squads. The modern 50mm mle 37 grenade launcher was beginning to be issued to the troops, this handy support weapon was supposed to replace the aging VB grenade launcher but it came too late as the German invasion brought proceedings to a halt before many could be issued.
