German Maintenance Tanks
During WW2, German panzer divisions innovated with maintenance and recovery vehicles, initially using a Panzer I chassis-based design. This early model, limited in towing capacity, paved the way for the more capable Bergepanzer series, developed from the Panzer III and IV chassis. These were outfitted with cranes and anchors, proving essential for vehicle recovery. The Panther units required specially designed maintenance vehicles due to their weight.
