British Armoured Cars
British armoured car units started the war mainly with vintage models which were armed with either a machine gun or anti-tank rifle. These included the Rolls Royce 1924, Lanchester Mk. I and Morris CS9. During the desert campaign the British introduced a variety of new models which included makes from South Africa. These came in different types which suited their role with scout cars and reconnaissance cars being used to in the scout role. These light vehicles would not take on enemy forces but withdraw. Later models of armoured car did mount a decent main gun in a fully revolving turret and could defend their self against light opposition. The best of these were the Daimler, Humber and AEC.
